Event details

Rather than the traditional piano trio, Chinese pianist Ran Jia, Armenian Saxophonist Hayrapet Arakelyan and German violinist Daniel Röhn came together to have the idea of bringing a new vision of chamber music. The three soloists will not only present transcriptions of their own but also the great music from their own culture. The concert will be a mixture of the new rarely performed program with lots of fire and passion.

Ran Jia

"piano poet with dramatic skill in music making."
-Tan Dun

The young Chinese pianist Ran Jia gained international attention for her extraordinary interpretative abilities for the piano work of Franz Schubert.

She began her piano lessons at the age of 3 and has started to perform at the early age of seven years. In November 2005, Ran Jia made her debut at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center New York.

Ran Jia studied with Gary Graffman at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and holds a degree from the University of Music in Cologne. She is currently enrolled at the International piano academy at Lake Como in Italy, where she studies with William Grant Nabore.

Recently, she became the ambassador for classical music of the Chinese Aesthetic Education.
 Daniel Röhn

When talent is passed on from generation to generation, it often happens in an unpresuming way. Such is the case with Daniel Röhn – one of the most remarkable and talented violinists of the present day. What is so fascinating about him and his playing is his natural approach to great traditions and his clear perspective on them.

Over a number of decades, both his grandfather and father were renowned concertmasters on the universally unique German orchestral scene; now the new generation has joined those ranks as a soloist and chamber musician, who will no doubt contribute significantly to the world of the violin.

Hayrapet Arakelyan

As a Selmer Paris artist, Hayrapet Arakelyan at age of 26 already made his international career as a classical saxophonist and chamber musician. He won numerous international competitions and was invited to many prestigious music festivals.
