Ali John Meredith-Lacey, better known under the moniker Novo Amor, is a Welsh multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, sound designer and producer. Novo Amor is Portuguese for New Love. The artist confirmed in a tweet that the name had a "Portuguese/Latin" [sic] origin, without providing any further explanation. He stated in an interview that he went through a break-up in 2012 before he started producing and that led to this name as he found his "New Love" in Music.

Ali Lacey has always been profoundly independent.Moving away from home at 16, he journeyed across the Atlantic, working for a summer in upstate New York.It was here, amongst the incredible beauty of those endless landscape, that his teenage infatuation with rock and metal feel away, leading to something more pensive, nuanced, and acoustic. Returning to the UK, these experiences sparked Novo Amor, with the Cardiff songwriter at first operating alongside Ed Tullett before striking out as a solo endeavour.Lacey rose to prominence after the release of his debut EP Woodgate, NY in March 2014.

Lacey's first Novo Amor EP, Woodgate, NY, was released 31 March 2014. Building on the success of the EP, Lacey released "Faux", a collaboration with Ed Tullett, on 23 June 2014.

"Callow", a further single as Novo Amor, was released 17 November 2014. This was followed by "Welcome to the Jungle", a Guns N' Roses cover for an AXE/Lynx advertising campaign on 6 January 2015, its video directed by Nabil.

Lacey toured Germany, Switzerland and Austria across April and May 2015, and was nominated for 2 awards at the Music Week Sync Awards for the use of his music commercially. "Anchor", another single as Novo Amor, was released 23 October 2015.A second collaborative single with Ed Tullett, "Alps", was released 15 April 2016.

This marks the second collaboration between English producer and songwriter Ed Tullett and Welsh songwriter Novo Amor. Their previous single, “Faux” has been featured in Shadowhunters and Pretty Little Liars. The duo are currently working on a full length album together. Tullett has said, “‘Alps’ is a love song written from the sight of aftermath. Lyrically about wanting to revisit a past love, but knowing you’d be completely self-destructive if you did so.

The track as a whole aims to conjure a sense of intensity, beauty and nostalgia.” Novo Amor had this to say about the track: “Displaying how emotion can overpower reason, ‘Alps’ is about the fear of self-destruction and how we let ourselves kill what we set out to love.”

On 10 November 2017, Lacey and Ed Tullett released Heiress, their full collaborative album on All Points.2017 was a big year in Lacey’s career. Not only did he release a formidable solo EP (Bathing Beach), he also collaborated with his contemporary and brother in spirit Ed Tullett on an even more impressive and quietly powerful full-length LP. Heiress was a consummate statement of vulnerability in art, a quintessential expression of the state of folk music in the 21st century.

In 2020, Novo Amor will come to China and have a tour with his friend Ed and the band.
