Megaherz is a German New German Hard Rock band that was founded in Munich in 1993. The band has undergone several line-up changes over the years, but the characteristic sound and unique musical identity have remained the same.

 

The founding members were Alexander ‘Lex’ Wohnhaas (vocals), Marc Bredtmann (guitar), Christian ‘X-ti’ Bystron (guitar), Josef Kalleder (bass) and Tobias Trinkl (drums). The name ‘Megaherz’ is inspired by the album of the same name by 5 Sterne Deluxe.

 

 

Their debut album ‘Herzwerk’ was released in 1995 and already featured their typical mix of hard guitar riffs, electronic elements and German lyrics. The band quickly became well-known in the German music scene and established themselves as one of the leading forces in the NDH movement.

 

Over time, the band's style changed slightly and they experimented with different musical influences, but remained successful. Megaherz's lyrics often deal with emotional and social issues and can be both sombre and thought-provoking.

 

Megaherz have played numerous live shows throughout their career and have developed a reputation as an energetic stage band. They have also released some successful singles such as ‘Gott sein’ and ‘Miststück’, which are among the band's best-known songs.
