AURA TONE is our first edition of ambiant music genre evening. For this out of Earth experiment, we have invited two of Shanghai's space musical geeks: EMPRESS CC! and SHIGHMAN who will deliver selection of sounds and music digged from all cultures and corners of this planet, inspired by space travel and disco ball gazing. 

 

 

Empress CC! is a Chinese born and musically London raised musician and DJ. She was classically trained pianist and studied MA Audio Production in Westminster university, accordingly released her first personal album in 2014. Since coming back to Shanghai, she has dived into the DJ world . In connection with her spiritual persuit, she has made more ambient music this year. Believing in the power of music with non ( traditional ) beats, the textures in music that triggers emotions to flow and to connect are her guide. Emerge in the sound world of Empress CC! and make dreamscape while awake.

 

 

SHIGHMAN is a spiritual DJ who crafts his performances around waves of bass and energetic music auras. His sound collection is inspired by soul, reggae, hiphop and future bass music from all around the world. SHIGHMAN has embarked on a spiritual quest through sound over 20 years ago and spreads his love of music with unique sets. His naked soul was last seen on Tibetan plateau with a floral electronic music set aimed at bringing peace on Earth.

 

Ambient music is a genre of music that emphasizes tone and atmosphere over traditional musical structure or rhythm. A form of slow instrumental music, it uses repetitive, but gentle, soothing sound patterns that can be described as sonic wallpaper to complement or alter one’s space and to generate a sense of calmness. The genre is said to evoke an "atmospheric" or "visual" quality.

 

Ambient music focuses on creating a mood or atmosphere through synthesizers and timbral qualities. It uses textural layers of sound without prevalent musical tropes, rewarding both passive and active listening. Nature soundscapes are usually included, and the sounds of acoustic instruments such as the piano, strings and flute, among others, may be emulated through a synthesizer.
