Cellist: Benjamin Kruithof
For Cellist Benjamin Kruithof individuality and communication play the most important role in music. At a concert, he focuses on sharing a personal message. He regards each performance as a musical event where he wants to share a work’s emotions and thoughts with the audience.
It's no surprise that great artists such as Rostropovich, Glenn Gould, and Jascha Heifetz are among his role models – their ability to communicate a personal message through music has always been an inspiration for him.
Benjamin was born into a musical family in Luxembourg in 1999. His parents – his mother is a violinist and his father a violist – enabled him to have early access to classical music and took him to their rehearsals.
At the age of four, Benjamin began to play the violin and switched to the cello in the following year.
He received his first lessons from Raju Vidali at the Luxembourgian Conservatoire du Nord. Upon playing his first solo concert together with the conservatoire’s orchestra at the age of twelve, he made the definitive decision to pursue a career as a cellist.
