Award-winning pianist Yu Xiangjun is back with the “Otherland” ensemble for the brand new 4^th edition of the “Otherland” hypermedia piano recital series. Combing music, video, lighting, and cutting-edge AI technology, “Otherland 4.0”, inspired by nature, presents a visual and musical feast of modern classical music and latest creations from outstanding Chinese contemporary composers with the theme of “Energy of Life”.

Qin Yi’s META Bird Song, integrating AI technology with bird’s sound sampling, explores the unknown space between reality and virtuality. Xu Zhibo creates the “vanishing” of musical notes with the use of sustain pedal. Shao Qing’s The Sunbird echoes the worship of ancient Shu ancestors thousands of years ago towards the golden crow on the mythical Fusang tree. Dayan, with his soundless video, boldly re-interprets John Cage’s 4’33”, one of the most controversial, alternative and challenging pieces of music in history.
