As the first and leading Countertenor in China, Xiao Ma has made up the blank in this field. His repertoire covers Chinese and foreign art songs, opera and musical of different styles, etc. In recent years, he also focuses on the works which combine classical and modern music elements. He has presided over the first batch of individual projects funded by the National Art Fund and key projects of Provincial Graduate Education and Teaching Reform.

 

Mr. Xiao visited more than 30 countries and regions in the world and was invited to perform in many famous international art festivals, including: the second China International Youth Art Week, Liu Dehai Art Week, China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week, China-ASEAN International Music Week; New Zealand International Arts Festival; International Art Festival of Enescu, Romania and Autumn International Art Festival in Warsaw, Poland and so on.

He has collaborated with the most renowned conductors including Zheng Xiaoying, Ye Cong, Yu Feng, Lv Jia, Li Xincao, Tang Mu, Tan Lihua, Zhu Qiyuan, Xu Zhong, Fu Renchang, Liu Shun, Zhang Liang, Zhu Man,Brett·Weymark, Kenneth·Young, Norio·Sato, Marc·Taddei, Marcel·Wangler, Elahiu von Erlenbach , etc.

 

Mr. Xiao does not only focus on stage performing, but also works hard as a music educator. He has published Selected Collection of Countertenor Songs (China's first countertenor vocal music works), 21 Chinese original vocalise (China's first original vocal music songs collection) and other books. He has also co-authored and published 7 albums with Universal Music (Singapore), China Tianyi Media Group, Shanghai Music Publishing House, New Zealand Atoll Records, China Records, etc.

 

In recent years, he has been interviewed by more than 50 media at home and abroad and received wide acclaim. Critics praised that he is reviving the traditional Bel Canto Countertenor in China.

Considered as one of China’s most talented pianists in his generation, Chi Wu, Steinway Artist,currently serves as professor at the piano department of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music.

He is prizewinner of several international competitions, such as 2nd in the Ettlingen international piano competition. ,Germany(same time Langlang won the first prize). 3rd in the Franz Liszt international piano competition. Utrecht, Holland.

He played Recitals in all major cities of China, also in Hong Kong, Holland, Italy, UK, USA, Germany and Spain. Performed at The Beijing Concert Hall, The Shanghai Concert Hall, The Concertgebouw of Amsterdam,etc.Played with the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Holland, The National Youth Orchestra of Holland, The Chinese National Orchestra, . And Also has tought Master Class in many Festivals,such as Amalfi Coast festival,Tanglewood, the Central Conservatory of Beijing.
