Wilten Boys' Choir
The concert, given by the Wilten Boys' Choir with their clear, high voices, heralds the coming of spring and celebrates the season of Eastertide. On Good Friday they are performing as part of the Osterfestival Tirol when, in the Congress Innsbruck, they will sing Johann Sebastian Bach's St. Matthew's Passion, a work that musically meditates on the suffering and death of Christ as told in the Gospel of Matthew. The St. Matthew Passion is one of the most revered works of sacred music. The Wilten Boys' Choir's poignant and expressive interpretation is guaranteed to provide an emotionally stirring experience.
One of the best boys’ choirs in Europe
Heavenly, touching and pure boys’ voices meet the passion of great works from the Renaissance. The powerful sounds of Anton Bruckner, Arvo Pärt and many more – masterfully performed – resound every year from June to September at Innsbruck’s impressive Court Church.
At the end of November, the Court Church is once again filled with the wonderful sound of the boys’ choir – this time performing the most beautiful Christmas songs from Tyrol and the surrounding Alps. The atmospheric music rings in the most tranquil and reflective time of the year, inspiring people of all ages.
A real highlight is the Christmas Oratorio, performed on the fourth Saturday in Advent at Wilten Abbey Basilica, which has become something of a tradition. The remarkable voices of the Wilten Boys’ Choir can also be heard on Mother’s day and Palm Sunday.
