Pictured Resort(Osaka)
PICTURED RESORT is known as the leader of Japanese Neo Acoustic.
They fuse various genre like AOR, 80s city pop and disco into indie pop, that makes their music feels like city pop but dreamier. The band itself – both the name and their cover art - is a tribute to city pop, EP’s cover was created by Hiroshi Nagai, the illustrator that made many classic city pop covers like “A LONG VACATION” and “DANCE TO YOU”.
Luby Sparks(Tokyo)
LUBY SPARKS is the only Japanese band that has played on Indietracks Music Festival - the best indie pop music festival in the world. After that they showed their talents at many mainstream music festivals such as Summer Sonic and SXSW, and performance with many BIG bands like The Vaccines (UK) and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (US) on the same stage.
The band said they were a dream pop band, but their songs are heard like 80s shoegaze mixed with indiepop. The new EP is remixed by Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), and that makes it feels like 80s Euro indie.
STILL DREAMS (OSAKA)
STILL DREAMS is a new project extending from Osaka indie pop band Juvenile Juvenile.
This band has written so many wonderful melodies, just make a version like intense fantasy of juveniles flying in night sky that full of stars. You can smell new wave from their songs, they are basically a synth pop band, sharing the same gene with Architecture in Helsinki and Kero Kero Bonito.
