 1)Show description

Unlike the movie, the musical "Titanic the Musical" is based on real people aboard the legendary ship, and is a stunning and thrilling work that pays tribute to the Titanic disaster of 1912. Each character in the musical is named after a real passenger from that year. The story focuses on describing the fate and stories of each small and large character in the historical event, and through the plot and music, presents the human glory of the passengers from different classes when facing tragedy.

In the last few hours of April 14, 1912, the Titanic slowly sank after colliding with an iceberg during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. This was one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th century, with 1,517 men, women, and children losing their lives.

The story of the musical does not feature the love legend of poor artist Jack and aristocratic woman Rose, but captures the real trajectory of history, focusing on the fate of each small and large character during the darkest moments: the first-class millionaires who hoped for wealth and power to continue, the second-class passengers who wanted to join the upper class society, and the third-class passengers who carried the "American Dream" ... The musical reproduces the fate and endings of passengers and crew members from different classes on the giant ship when facing disaster, as well as the human glory they displayed.

The show premiered on Broadway and has been a global sensation since its release in 1997, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, Best Orchestrations, and Best Scenic Design, as well as a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Orchestrations and a Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Show Album. The media and audiences have praised it.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the London production, the show has been rebooted and is embarking on a global limited tour, featuring a rare large cast of 25 actors who will play 126 small and large characters, including 8 London premiere cast members and 17 outstanding actors from the West End. With live musicians and high-level tour production, the moving songs will capture history from multiple storylines and perspectives, singing the song of eternal life. After three years, the show is returning to China for a national tour, and we look forward to seeing this epic masterpiece in theaters once again!

MAURY YESTON (Music & Lyrics)

Maury Yeston is a multi award winning theatre and film composer, lyricist, author and teacher. In addition to winning a Tony Award for Best Score for Titanic (which won another four Tonys including Best Musical), Yeston won a Tony Award and two Drama Desk Awards for his music and lyrics to Nine (based on Fellini’s1963 movie 8½). That production also won four additional Tonys including Best Musical. The Broadway revival of Nine, starring Antonio Banderas, won the Tony Award for Best Musical Revival.

Yeston’s contribution to the score for Grand Hotel was nominated for a Tony and two Drama Desk Awards, and the Donmar Warehouse production won an Olivier Award. His score for Phantom has received national and international acclaim. Most recently, he wrote music and lyrics to Death Takes A Holiday (with a book also by Stone and Thomas Meehan), which was nominated for 11 Drama Desk Awards, and the first entirely American full length ballet, Tom Sawyer: A Ballet In Three Acts, which premiered in Kansas City.

PETER STONE (Story and Book)

Stone was born in Los Angeles. His mother was a film writer and his father was the writer and producer of many silent films.

Stone is among that rarefied group of writers who have conquered stage, screen, and television by winning an Oscar, a Tony, and an Emmy. In 1965, he won an Oscar for his work as a screenwriter on Father Goose, however it is the Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn vehicle, Charade, that is probably Stone's best-remembered film. He won Tony Awards for his books for the Broadway musicals Titanic, Woman Of The Year and 1776. He won an Emmy for a 1962 episode of The Defenders.

Shortly after Stone's death, in a memorial ceremony it was observed that the two most famous ships of all time were Noah’s Ark and the Titanic, and that Stone had written Broadway Musicals about both of them.
