The Tale of Nobody Nose is a non-verbal visual theatre and clown performance by the UK’s Goofus Theatre. Using puppetry, physical comedy, and music, the show takes audiences on an imaginative journey where both kids and adults become part of the experience. Designed for all ages, it’s an interactive and playful performance built entirely on movement and visual storytelling.

Created by UK-based Goofus Theatre and its artistic director Paul Barnhill, The Tale of Nobody Nose is a non-verbal visual theatre piece combining clowning, puppetry, and physical performance.

The show follows three clown performers navigating a surreal journey guided by a glowing “magic map.” Through movement and music, they travel across imagined worlds—from oceans to underwater landscapes to the sky—without the use of spoken language.

Rather than a traditional stage production, the performance invites the audience into the experience. Puppets, gestures, and visual elements replace dialogue, creating a story that is accessible across ages and backgrounds.

ABOUT GOOFUS
Goofus Theatre was founded in 2012 and is a touring theatre company creating original pieces with mask, puppetry, clowning, play and music. The majority of Goofus work is non-verbal and aimed at audiences where theatre isn’t easily accessed for various reasons. We are a not for profit community interest company.

The company works with small casts of no more than four performers. Goofus work in various performance settings ranging from festivals, under tents, streets, disused shops, foyers, forests, community spaces, museums, care homes, hospices, hospitals and conventional theatre spaces.

Goofus performers are very experienced and adaptable in working/devising very quickly, playing to all ages in all settings. Their skills are from many diverse performing. backgrounds including circus, street theatre, clowning, puppetry and mask work. We believe theatre should have no borders. We believe access to our style of performance is for all ages, all backgrounds, everywhere.

We believe in a theatre that is mischievous, funny, strange, moving, surreal, fantastical and dreamlike.
