"The Last Days of Pompeii" Immersive Exhibition Arrives in Asia — Beijing Debuts as First Stop!
From Madrid, Vienna, and Berlin to Beijing, the groundbreaking multi-sensory exhibition "The Last Days of Pompeii" has arrived in Asia for the first time!
Through precious historical artifacts, meticulously reconstructed public spaces of the ancient city, awe-inspiring naked-eye 3D panoramic visuals, and a unique walk-through VR journey, visitors will be transported across time to the bustling streets of Pompeii — the second-largest city of the Roman Empire, frozen in its prime.
Pompeii, a melting pot of Greek and Roman civilizations, once thrived as a symbol of urban prosperity, romantic art, heartfelt love, unshakable faith, and the leisurely lives of its people. Yet, the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 buried this vibrant metropolis in an instant, turning it into a fleeting meteor in history’s vast sky.
Now, after lying dormant for 2,000 years, Pompeii has re-emerged through the relentless efforts of archaeologists, revealing the glory and resilience of ancient Rome. This exhibition invites audiences to step immersively into the city that embodied the rising power of the Roman Empire, exploring its urban landscapes, lifestyles, customs, and culinary traditions.
Visitors can further dive into Pompeii’s daily life through large-scale, interactive VR experiences, becoming a virtual citizen of the ancient city. Explore legendary mysterious villas, uncover the routines of Roman life, and wander through the secrets of aristocratic homes.
Additionally, donning VR headsets, guests will enter a VR colosseum primed for adrenaline-pumping adventures: race a thrilling chariot into a crowded amphitheater, feel the roar of the crowd, witness epic gladiatorial battles, and behold spectacular naval clashes.
Crafted over 18 months by nearly 150 cross-disciplinary experts — including archaeologists, screenwriters, producers, composers, sound designers, orchestras, 43 VR and immersive animators, and 9 metaverse artists — "The Last Days of Pompeii" delivers a millennia-spanning immersive spectacle like no other!
