Artist introduction
Conductor Yang Yang was born in a musical family, graduated from the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, and studied under Professor Yu Feng, the dean of the Central Conservatory of Music. Winner of the Gold Medal at the Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition.
He is currently the Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Central Opera House; the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra; the Music Director of the Hangzhou International Music Festival; and the Artistic Director of the Central Conservatory of Music Youth Symphony Orchestra.
About the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra
The Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the top symphony orchestras in China, working with hundreds of leading musicians from home and abroad.
Since its establishment, the orchestra has been invited by 9 international music festivals and has performed in 35 cities in 19 countries in Europe, Asia and South America, spreading the "China story, Hangzhou sound" to the world. The orchestra has established friendly cooperation with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Karajan Institute, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Yeo Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of the National University of Singapore.
In September 2016, the orchestra successfully completed the G20 Summit Cultural Gala - a large-scale water performance orchestral concert "The Most Reminiscent of Hangzhou", and in October 2019, the orchestra was invited to join the "Symphony of a Thousand People" to perform in Tiananmen Square in celebration of the G20 Summit. In October 2019, the orchestra was invited to join the "Symphony of a Thousand" to perform in Tiananmen Square to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
