Siberian Symphony Orchestra is one of the most outstanding symphony orchestras from Russia. In 1966, the orchestra was founded by the famous Russian conductor Simon Cogan, who served as the conductor for ten years.
Since its inception, the orchestra has brought together music talents from the Leningrad, Novosibirsk, and Ural Conservatories, all of which are renowned and energetic professional orchestral collectives.
In 1975, the orchestra has participated in a series of festivals organized by the former Soviet Composers Association to perform contemporary Soviet music.
The composers of the orchestra's cooperation include Hacha Tuliang, Herennikov, Shedlin, Kaziraev, Tazhvedev, Felzman and Petrov.
The orchestra has built a huge library of classical music and contemporary composers. The number of members has reached more than hundreds. These music elites have brought a variety of professional skills and ideas to the orchestra.
Conductor
Gennady Chernov was born in Saint-Petersburg. In 1997 he graduated from the Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory as a choral conductor.
Since 2014 he has been the artistic director of the Nord-West Russian Symphony Orchestra.
