Shanghai University Chamber Orchestra
The Shanghai University Chamber Orchestra is a key art troupe of Shanghai University.
It consists of nearly 40 undergraduates and postgraduates from various majors.
The orchestra is directed by Mr. Cao Peng, a famous conductor in my country and
honorary dean of the School of Music of Shanghai University,
and Professor Xia Xiaocao, a violinist living in the United States.
The Shanghai University Chamber Orchestra undertakes the important task of various cultural exchanges
and performances inside and outside the school.
Since its establishment, it has presented many high-quality music performances for teachers,
students and Shanghai citizens. The orchestra enjoys a certain reputation in Shanghai and
even in China for its rigorous and delicate music performance style,
and has participated in various performances at home and abroad for many times.
In 2015, the Shanghai University Chamber Orchestra won the first prize in the instrumental music
category of the 4th National College Student Art Exhibition and Performance Competition held in Tianjin, China.
This honor represents the highest level of Chinese college students' music competition.
The Shanghai University Chamber Orchestra has visited abroad for many times,
and has been invited to perform at Stanford University, University of Wyoming,
University of Kentucky, University of Bath Spa, UK, and Straits University in Turkey.
