Following the tremendous success of Percussion Fantasia 1, this newly upgraded percussion concert brings together outstanding percussionists from Shanghai and Suzhou. Utilizing mallets, hands, and bows as their tools of expression, they will unleash imagination and transcend the boundaries of classical, pop, and digital sci-fi music. From the Baroque structures of Bach to the vibrant storms of the Caribbean, from the Shanghai-style culture to the mathematical universe, nine percussionists will create a bold and boundary-breaking rhythmic epic.

 

 

Starting with the bells of “Cultural Mosaic”, the hang drum and djembe beats weave river veins. Pentatonic scales wander in jazz and Latin rhythms. The tango version of “Historia de un Amor” collides with the percussive “Pirates of the Caribbean”, like the Havana sea breeze mixes with Baroque polyphony. “Monsoon” builds a 360° sound stage with the rhythm of torrential rain. “Cubana” is an innovative blend of classical and electronic elements, with live interactions that makes the audience's body become part of the instrument. The concert is as diverse as the Bund complex, and creates a musical dialogue that spans time and space.
