Concert Introduction
Born in 1950, Snoopy and his pals were created by Charles Schulz, the author of the Peanuts comic strip, and have grown up with generations of people over the course of more than 70 long years. From a comic book puppy to a cultural icon, Snoopy has become one of the most influential cartoons of all time: he graced the cover of Time magazine, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and even the Apollo 10 lunar module was named after him.
The father of Peanuts, the late jazz musician Vince Guaraldi, wrote countless joyful melodies for television cartoons featuring characters such as Snoopy and Charlie Brown, successfully portraying the characters' distinctive personalities and making Peanuts music reverberate in every household; His animated music albums have also won Emmy and Peabody Awards.
The concert features a selection of the best classics from Grady's score for the Peanuts comic strip, such as the indispensable "Linus and Lucy", the unforgettable "Skating" and the warm and inviting "Christmas is Coming". "For the first time, Snoopy's personality and demeanour are transformed into a vibrant musical score through Grady's witty compositions and the live musicians' vibrant interpretations, using two pianos, four hands and solo piano. The characters are brought to life as they move through the music, as if leading the audience into the animation and into a world of love and friendship.
