ODUCHU is an outstanding young Tuvan world music duo hailing from the Republic of Tuva in Siberia, Russia, founded in 2018. The ensemble comprises two professional Tuvan musicians: producer, composer and acoustic guitarist Chingis Sorzhu, and lead vocalist Mengi Mongush, a master of traditional Tuvan khöömei throat singing and igil performer.
The name ODUCHU means “healer” in the Tuvan language, which defines their consistent musical temperament. Rooted in nomadic folk traditions of Tuva, the duo reinterprets indigenous culture by merging authentic throat singing, igil folk strings with delicate acoustic composition, gentle ambient textures and contemporary folk arrangements.
Their repertoire covers reimagined ancient Tuvan folk melodies and self-composed original works. Centered on the steppe, homeland, ancestral memory and inner peace, their music builds vast, soothing soundscapes that separate them from the heavier, raw tone of classic Tuvan throat singing groups. Minimalist, clean production makes their nomadic sound warm, lyrical and accessible to global listeners.
ODUCHU has released three full-length studio albums: *The Healer*, *Road to Home* and the award-winning *Nostalgia*. The record *Nostalgia* topped Russia’s national World Music Chart and earned the title of Best Ethnic Album at the Russian World Music Awards, establishing ODUCHU as a flagship representative of new-generation Tuvan world music.
The duo has performed extensively throughout Russia and major ethnic cultural festivals across Siberia. They have shared stages with renowned Central Asian folk artists including Radik Tyulyush of Huun-Huur-Tu and Buryatian band Namgar. Since launching international touring, ODUCHU has staged numerous well-received concerts across China’s concert halls and livehouse venues, winning wide recognition among Asian world music audiences.
As modern cultural messengers of Tuvan nomadism, ODUCHU breaks linguistic barriers through immersive, tranquil music, bringing the boundless, quiet spirit of the Siberian grasslands to audiences worldwide.
