The moniker of Bryan Black, techno producer who cut his teeth as a sound designer and keyboard tech for Prince at Paisley Park Studios and who formed one half of acclaimed duo MOTOR, started Black Asteroid in 2011 with the “Engine EP”. The debut EP was quickly signed to CLR records, became an instant hit, and was a precursor to what soon became known as industrial techno.

 

 

2012’s “Black Acid EP” (Electric Deluxe) followed this success and remixes for Depeche Mode and Rick Owens have set a new and uncompromising standard with their otherworldly sounds and shapes. Black Asteroid has brought his explosive DJ and live sets to events including a sold-out 12,000 capacity Palazzi Dei Congressi in Rome, Melkweg for Amsterdam Dance Event, Mysteryland festival, Berghain, Ageha, Fabric and many more.

 

The fashion designer Rick Owens picked up on what was happening, and used black's music for his runway shows in Paris. The two quickly became friends and collaborators. In July 2017, the debut album from Black Asteroid “Thrust” was released on Last Gang records, featuring Cold Cave,Zola Jesus, Michele Lamy, and Chris Liebing.

Born and bred in Hong Kong, Michael Ng focuses on deep, progressive and melodic techno. His passion and journey into under-ground electronic music started when he first listened to Underworld's classic, "BornSlippy", in 2007.

 

 

With mad skills in programming and DJ-ing, Michael Ng matured under the guidance of Ernest Chan. This resulted in him sharing his passion and building his presence in the underground club scene in Hong Kong. Selected melodies and a deep tech vibe dominates his tracks and it digs deep into the soul of listeners and visualises a setting that could be a dark and sweaty underground club.

Having established the Hong Kong DJ collective "Groove Delight" with Ernest and Robbie Chan and Rostyslav, they aim to bring fresh new talent to the thriving local scene and channel the most beautiful grooves to the hearts and feet of club goers and the community. 

 

 

Techno fanatics in Shenzhen will recognise his underground electronic music parties. His love and dedication for Techno has continuously made him hone his craft. FUNKIE frequently performs in well-known clubs such as: the Guanzhou Hangover, Shenzhen Sector, Oil Club etc. He has also played several times with well-known DJs as a guest performer such as: Japan's Fantastic Plastic Machine and America's Ambivalent. The relationship between visual arts and electronic beats have influenced him to create music using technology and visual images and collaborate with VJs and artists. His work is characterised by coverting layers of overlapping materials into fantasy visions, creating a surreal and dreamlike experience.
