Lorenz and Stradivari Ensemble
“Panda” Lorenz and Stradivari Ensemble is a group of musicians playing string instruments created by the great Italian masters of the 17th–18th centuries: Nicolo Amati, Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri, Giovanni Battista Guadagnini and Mateo Goffriller. Each of the instruments played by the ensemble's musicians has its own history full of amazing events.
The ensemble was created in 2015 on the initiative of Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici. The ensemble consists of 20 people - leading soloists of the Symphony Orchestras. The ensemble includes the leads soloists of the Mariinsky Orchestra. The musicians play ancient instruments, most of which were made between 1700 and 1780.
Lorenz and Stradivari Ensemble’s extensive repertoire includes works from Baroque to Piazzolla, from Vivaldi to Stravinsky, and the best examples of “light music” (fragments of Viennese operettas, Argentine tangos...), which acquire a special sound thanks to the timbres of unique instruments. Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici - Panda plays Antonio Stradivari “ex-Heifetz” violin (1732).
