How popular is "La Traviata" by John Neumeier? Since its premiere in 1978, ballet companies and star dancers all over the world have been fascinated by it. This work was originally tailor-made for the legendary star Marcia Heidi. The world-famous groups Stuttgart Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet and others competed to rehearse. Ballet star Sylvie Gillen , Svetlana Zakhalova, Jiang Xiuzhen, Tan Yuanyuan and others all bowed under Margaret's pomegranate skirt.
The story of "La Traviata" is almost well-known, and Dumas's novels have been sold all over the world for more than 100 years. When Neumeier put it on the ballet stage, Chopin's music was used in the whole play, and narration and lyricism were perfectly integrated into the dance, which became a classic of contemporary drama and ballet. Like novels, dance dramas enter memories in flashbacks. With the quiet entry of Chopin's piano music, the drunken Parisian social scene, the imaginary Manon's insinuation of Margaret's fate, the sad and moving "Black Duo", Neumeier's creation is perfect.
The Bolshoi Theatre has a super lineup for this dance drama, and the "Black Duo" performed by the chief star Zakhalova is widely circulated. The theater also specially invited Edwin Levazov, the queen dancer of Neumeier and the principal of Hamburg Ballet, to play Armand. Levazov once came to China with the group to perform this play and cooperated with Tan Yuanyuan. He has performed the "Black Duo", and he is also Zachalova's best partner in this work. In addition, the principal dancers of the Bolshoi Theater Semyon Chukin and Mikhail Lobshin also added icing on the cake.
The Bolshoi Theatre Ballet was established in 1776 by the decree of Queen Catherine II. The Bolshoi Theatre Ballet is one of the oldest dance companies in the world, with countless repertoires such as "Swan Lake" and " Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, etc., as well as today’s most famous dancers such as lead stars Svetlana Zakhalova and Olga Smirnova, etc., and also invites contemporary famous choreographers Including John Neumeier, Jean-Christophe Mayor, etc. In the past eight years, the Bolshoi Theatre has cooperated with EMI Film Company to launch a high-definition video presentation project of the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet, spreading the classic works of the dance company to all parts of the world. In the 2017-18 quarter, 1,700 theaters in more than 60 countries joined the project, and all ballet images were perfectly presented with high-definition technology supplemented by Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound.
