Big Band
A big band is a musical ensemble in jazz, usually consisting of ten or more musicians. Big bands originated in the early 1910s and flourished during the Swing era from around 1930 - late 1940. In contrast to traditional jazz, which emphasised improvisation, big bands mostly relied on already written compositions, weakening the improvisation component.

Combining the essence of traditional jazz with modern musical elements, the JZ Big Band is a refreshingly new and unique style of music made up of the best of the best from China's renowned music schools, JZ School, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and Nanjing Academy of Fine Arts, which is renowned for its excellent music education and has produced many outstanding musicians and bands.
