Jasmine Chen is a jazz musician, singer, songwriter and founder of JAZZ Jazz Club.
 
Jasmine Chen is one of the most active jazz singers in China currently, and has gained worldwide attention for her unique ‘East meets West’ jazz style.
 
 
At the age of nineteen, she went to England to study and received a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Music with Honours from the Leeds School of Music. During her stay in the UK, she developed a strong interest in jazz music and took up jazz singing, where she received professional and systematic jazz singing training under the tutelage of Louise Gibbs and Tina May, both renowned jazz singers in the UK.
 
After returning to China and settling in Shanghai, she began her singing career, and sought out the roots of Chinese music, combining oriental musical elements with western jazz forms to form her unique blend of Chinese and western jazz. She has travelled between China and the West, taking her music all over the world, to the United States, Brazil, Australia, Holland, Denmark, Hungary, Singapore, Malta, South Korea ....... She was the first Chinese singer to take the stage at the world-renowned North Sea Jazz Festival and Aarhus Jazz Festival in the Netherlands, and has collaborated with renowned musicians from home and abroad, such as the Grammy Award-winning Hawaiian musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician, the Grammy Award-winning musician and the Aarhus Jazz Festival. She has also worked with renowned musicians from home and abroad, such as Grammy-winning Hawaiian guitarist Jeff Peterson, renowned Barbershop guitarist Filo Machado, Singapore's ‘King of Swing’ pianist Jeremy Monteiro, and Hungarian pianist Bela Szakcsi Lakatos, among others.
 
She participated in the recording of Australian music producer John Huie's ‘Shanghai Jazz Shanghai Jazz’ series II (2013), and has also collaborated with Singapore's ‘King of Swing’ Jeremy Monteiro and the Singapore Jazz Orchestra on several occasions in China and Singapore. She has also collaborated with Singapore's ‘King of Swing’ Jeremy Monteiro and the Singapore Jazz Orchestra to perform ‘Shanghai Jazz’ themed soundtracks in China and Singapore. She has been a songwriter since 2007, and has written Chinese lyrics for a variety of musical works in different languages, such as ‘Take FIve’, ‘Quizas’, ‘Encontros E Despedidas’, etc. She has also written works such as ‘The Colour of Love’, ‘The Air’, and ‘WeChat’, which are all Chinese contemporary songs. She has also composed works such as ‘The Colour of Love’, ‘Air’, and ‘WeChat’, which vividly incorporate the current forms of Chinese life into her compositions.
 
In 2008, she released her first Chinese jazz album, The Colour of Love, and in 2013, she appeared in the documentary film As Time Goes By In Shanghai by German director Uli Gaulke, and in 2018, she appeared in the film Picking the Gold by Jon M Chu for Warner Bros. Pictures in Hollywood. Crazy Rich Asians’, and recorded six original songs for the film, three of which were included in the film's soundtrack album, which was released globally on 15 August 2018, and won a number of awards, including the Golden Globe Award in the same year.
