Born in December, 1976, Ning An began his musical studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Olga Radosavljevich and Sergei Babayan. He subsequently continued his studies under the tutelage of Russell Sherman at the New England Conservatory.
His international career started after winning top prizes in numerous competitions, including first prize at the Tivoli International Piano Competition (2006), first prize of the William Kapell International Piano Competition (2003), third prize at the Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition (2002), the Alfred Cortot prize of the International Chopin Piano Competition (2000), first prize of the American National Chopin Piano Competition (2000), Classical Fellow of the American Pianists Association (2000), third prize of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition (1999), and third prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition (1997)
An has been soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and performed at Carnegie Hall, Salle Verdi (Milano), Salle Cortot (Paris) and the Great Hall of the People (Beijing) among others.
Currently he serves as the Artist-Teacher on the piano faculty of California State University, Fullerton School of Music.
Jiao Yuanzhang
(April 28, 1978 - ) was born in Taipei . He graduated from the International Relations Department of the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan University . He is a Ph.D. in Music at King's College London and a researcher at the British Library Edison. He is a well-known music critic and senior columnist in Taiwan . Good host radio station "Focus Music", "NSO Live Cloud Concert Hall" host . There are many books related to music, including music analysis, interpretation discussion, analysis of piano performance skills, musician interviews, international piano competition reports and literary creation.
On August 6, 2015, Jiao Yuanzhang issued a letter on Facebook to protest against the University of Taiwan, and forced him to pass the lecture of Peng Wenzheng , a professor at the National Taiwan University Press Institute, to preside over the TV news station " Zhengjing Limited Time Approval ". He said that NTU should defend its value and dignity. The school cannot represent the whole school. If the Peng Wenzheng part-time case is valid, he will no longer participate in any activities of the National Taiwan University.
