Jacob Collier, born on August 2, 1994, in London, England, is a British singer, arranger, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Raised in a musical household, his mother, Susan Collier, is a violinist and music educator at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Jacob developed his musical skills largely as a self-taught artist, learning to play multiple instruments from an early age.

 

 

In 2011, Collier began uploading self-produced videos on YouTube, where he arranged and performed popular songs in a highly distinctive and complex style. His unique approach to harmony and arrangement quickly gained attention. His breakthrough came in 2016 with the release of his debut album, In My Room, which he recorded and produced entirely in his bedroom. The album received widespread acclaim and earned him two Grammy Awards for his arrangements of "You and I" and The Flintstones theme.

 

 

 

Collier’s ambitious Djesse album series began in 2018 and consists of four volumes, each exploring a different musical style and featuring collaborations with a diverse range of artists. This project has further solidified his reputation as one of the most innovative and versatile musicians of his generation. In 2021, Djesse Vol. 3 was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Across his career, he has won six Grammy Awards, making him the first British artist to win a Grammy for each of his first four albums.
