SUPER ENHANCED 3D EFFECTS
HC Andersen is an emotional thinker and a great symbolist. There is no one like him who is so close to the greatest tragedy and the greatest comedy. Stepping into a visually magical universe that has not been seen in DK before, watch H.C.Andersen telling the six most representative stories: Nightingale, Clumsy Hans, The Emperor's New Clothes, The Princess on the Pea, The Little Match Girl, The Ugly Duckling.

The scenography of 'Hans Christian Andersen - Life's a Fairytale' is a modern, technological theatrical drama. A work of illusion in 3D.

The physical installations on the stage are built in wood and consist of many polygonal shapes, none of which are the same. The constructed shapes are made organic with an adventurous projection mapping.

It is a technology that uses the objects on the stage as the screen for video projection. With specialized software, the scenographic objects are mapped and the software interacts with multiple projectors and integrates all projections three-dimensional on the surfaces of the installations. In this way, all the extra dimensions and fascinating optical illusions are created.

“HIP-POP” DIRECTOR STEEN KOERNER
Steen Koerner was born in 1968, an autodidact in all that he is dealing with, Reumert winner for the groundbreaking hip-hop version of the 'Nutcracker', which is included in the Danish KulturKanon and the recipient of Hip Hop Lifetime Achievement Award. He recognizes so much from H.C. Andersen: the eagerness, the urge to communicate, to give his view on the world, life, pain, happiness - to make an audience feel stronger and to get to know oneself a little better through what you create for the audience. And his messages are truly eternal.

COLLABORATED BY THREE GREAT MUSICIANS
There are three composers on this show! Jesper Mechlenburg creates the great musical narratives and the music-dramatic context throughout the performance. Yo Akim adds some of the rhythms and punches that the young audience, in particular, identifies and connects with, the urban feeling through which this performance has flowed. And Bent Fabricius Bjerre has hit exactly the timeless classy tone that needed to redeem the story of the pussy princess on the pea and her omnipotent prince. Each in their way, the three composers are significant in their time and the production is proud to bring such amazing Danish original music to the world.

Jesper Mechlenburg is a composer of five of the six fairytales. Jesper has composed music for film, television, and theater at home and abroad and won both a Reumert award and the Danish Music Award. Among the latest works is the Christmas TV series The Second World and the music of the ballet Dangerous Liaisons at the Royal Theater. Steen Koerner and Jesper Mechlenburg have previously worked together on the two performances at Østre Gasværk Theatre.

Yo Akim Joakim Hjejle has composed the opening number and the ending, as well as all the parts that relate to the H C Andersen figure that combines the fairytales. In addition, in a post-production, Yo Akim has added an electronic layer from trap to dubstep. Yo-Akim has produced and played along with a myriad of Danish musicians, in recent years, especially with Lucy Love. Steen Koerner and Yo Akim have worked together on many productions over the years, most renowned the Reumert-winning hip-hop version of the Nutcracker.

Bent Fabricius Bjerre has composed the music for one of the six fairytales of the show, the 'Princess on the Pea'.

ABOUT STEEN KOERNER STUDIO
Steen Koerner Studio is an urban art company engaging in dance, music, poetry, graffiti, art film, architecture, city space development - and first and foremost theatre.

We're driven by a desire to learn and develop through experiments, projects and co-operations, based on the ideas from Gesamtkunst ...

Steen Koerner Studio is based on the artistic work of Steen Koerner; director, choreographer, concept developer and originally emerging from street dance and an urban environment. Steen founded the company together with Philip Johnsen, who's been working with Steen since early days, today being the owner of the company. Louise Seibæk, administrative director, is the new kid on the block in the company (2015) - but has been involved in big and small in contemporary dance in DK and abroad, as the director of Dansescenen for many years.

Steen Koerner Studio is based in Copenhagen, and from here we cooperate with companies and art institutions on art and theatre projects both nationally and internationally. On top of this we publish books on various of our projects, create education projects and collaborate with a.o. Olafur Eliasson.
