“The program is like a portrait of Osipova: her independence, her unforced force,
like Tolstoy’s Natasha caught up in a waltz ‘febrile intensity’,
her strength shrouded in fragility and her famously weightless jumps"
- THE NEW YORK TIMES
Ballet superstar Natalia Osipova will present a program of dazzling classic and contemporary dance pieces for her premiere in Mainland China. Joining her along this journey will be several renowned stars from Mariinsky Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and London's Theatre Rambert, as well as the prominent US dancer and choreographer Jason Kittelberger, amongst others. Acclaimed worldwide as one of the greatest ballerinas of her generation, Osipova stars in an evening of solos and duets unrivalled for their virtuosity and beauty. It features a selection of short pieces ranging from classical through neo classical to contemporary dance. Intriguingly eclectic and consistently entertaining, the programme offers something for everyone to enjoy and makes the ideal showcase for Osipova’s extraordinary versatility in terms of technique and style.
Force of Nature will include such gems of classical ballet repertoire as The Dying Swan, Giselle Pas De Deux as well as contemporary choreography: Left behind, duet where a dysfunctional relationship angrily unfolds in, on and around a door; Back to Bach by Shahar Binyamini; the powerful La Pucelle d’Orleans; a tribute to Isadora Duncan in Ashton's Five Brahms Ballads - Duncan Style; Ashes co-choreographed by Osipova and Kittelberger; romantic pas de deux Voorbij Gegaan, which was created for the Netherlands' most famous dance couple.
