Introduction

" Aurora " is a Flamenco show performed by the Shanghai FUEGO Flamenco Dance Theater. The performance will not only present Flamenco dances with different styles and emotional expressions, but also showcase the wonderful combination of various Flamenco props, such as bata de cola (long tail skirts), mantón (shawls), abanico (fans), canes, and castanets. Through the classic Flamenco performance, you will feel the passion of singers, guitarists, and dancers.

Introduction of works

0.Dawn In Spring(Sevillanas)

Sevillanas is a typical type of dance in Spain when people get together to drink and celebrate in the tents during the Feria de abril each year. During the festival, the girls will dress up in beautiful spring clothes and wear bright flowers, and dance happily to welcome the days when everything wakes up and flowers bloom with excitement.

1.Scream(Seguiriyas with “bata de cola” )

Seguiriyas is one of the most pristine “cante jondo” with its unique rhythm, making it a very typical genre. It is usually used to express the suffering of life, complex emotions, the bitterness of love and death etc. In this Seguiriyas, dancers wearing bata de cola (long tail skirts) kick off the show by the summons of the mysterious and inspirational music.

2.Dream(Guajiras with “abanico")

The music of Guajiras is soothing and graceful. Feeling like the warm sea breeze blowing on the face and body, it makes the dance infused with a pleasant and charming style. Please take a glance at these beautiful women in white dresses and holding abanicos (small fans). They look like frozen elves coming back to life with the magic, and dancing brightly and elegantly.

3.Under Sunshine (Caracoles with “bata de cola” and “mantón” )

Caracoles is one of the representative family music genres of Cantiñas, one of the most classic Flamenco, presenting joy, relax and spontaneousness. In this choreography, dancers wear bata de cola (long tail skirts) and mantón (shawls) at the same time, which not only shows the sophisticated skills, but also enriches the expression of the visual arts. The flying shawls and the long tail present wings aspiring for the dream place, which is a passionate and fantastic way of showing the exuberant vitality.

4.Loitering Around (Malagueña y Abandolao)(solo sing)

5.Bistro Rhapsody(Tangos de Triana)

In a Spanish bistro, there are a group of girls: they are beautiful, free, wild, romantic... They will bring the authentic Spanish bistro experience with a cheerful and flamboyant Tangos. Let's wait for them to hit the stage.

6.Wake Up Lonely At Deep Night (Soleá with “bata de cola”, solo dance) (Live performance)

Soleá is one of the oldest Flamenco genres. The unique Flamenco tune and the chant of singer can resonate with the loneliness and self-consciousness deep down in everyone’s heart. This Soleá starts with the most traditional form of Flamenco, consisting of a singer, a guitarist and a dancer performing a collaborative live show. It brings us back to the purity and nature. Following that, two dancers in black bata de cola will perform together leading your thoughts interweaving in the deep night.

7.Watchman (Caña with “mantón” )

Caña was originated in Ronda, a small city on the cliffs, and regarded as a music genre sharing the blood of Soleá, the mother of Flamenco. The iconic Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi-yi melody gives it a strong sense of ritual. The music style of Caña is considered as solemn, steadfast, and powerful. Just like the lyrics of the song saying, “You can command me to serve God or the King, but no one can stop me being myself."

8.Sail In The Waves (Poeta en la Mar)

The music is different from traditional Flamenco. It combines the rolling strings, rousing percussion and interpretation by Spain's top guitarist Vicente Amigo. Javier Latorre, a maverick choreographer, has created this masterpiece, touching everyone’s soul. The scene unfolds slowly under the moonlight; with perseverance and hope in the heart, regardless of raging storms or difficulties and obstacles, it composes a magnificent sea poetry.

9.The Crutch Sound (Toná with “Bastón”) (Live performance)

Toná intermittent tone, is the oldest genre of Flamenco, known as the source of all genres. It is one of the most difficult genres for singer. Bastón (Crutches) are also one of the most difficult props for dancers to master. In this challenging dance, the dancer's feet, and bastón as the third foot, coordinate with the drum and the hand clapping together, which brings a visual and auditory feast with rhythmic variation and multi-layer melody.

10.Aurora(Seguiriyas )

Have you ever felt trapped in darkness, agony, and difficulties? May this powerful Seguiriyas be the power of your heart and bring you courage to break the shackles and overcome weakness to usher in the dawn!
