Summertime. Some far away port town. A little hotel by the sea. Guests and servants don't suspect that those days will change their lives...
Hôtel Crab is a comedy full of surprises, passions and misunderstandings. The story takes place in Russia at a time that is neither real nor in the present. The atmosphere is dream-like and expressly artificial, in order to provoke a certain curiosity in the spectator.
Hôtel Crab is the story of a hotel where nothing ever happens, as well as the story of a newly arrived guest. Unexpected events will break the monotony of this peculiar place. A midnight robbery take everybody by surprise and will change the course of events for all the characters.
Hôtel Crab is a puppet show for adults, a story without words that makes use of theatrical language in a way reminiscent of silent film.
Trukitrek
The Catalan company Trukitrek has born in 1998. Its members came from different artistic backgrounds. They joined with the idea of forming a traveling company of puppet theatre.
Trukitrek specializes in producing shows that combining gestural theatre with the world of puppetry. The performances of the company propose a staging without words, where the acting of the actors and the magic of the puppets join together to tell comic and poetic stories at the same time.
The company works with different techniques of manipulating puppets, from classic puppet thread, till direct manipulation of puppets. Notably the style "humanette", where the characters are half and half human and puppet. The fusion between theater and animation films is also another scenic proposal of Trukitrek, in both its shows and the co-production of animated films.
The mime as universal language and the original scenic proposal, have led the company to several international tours. Trukitrek has performed its shows in 33 countries around the world.
