On 3 September 1992, the Vienna State Opera witnessed a historic moment as the German-language musical 'Elisabeth' made its world premiere there. So far, the Empress has travelled to 14 countries around the world, with over 9,000 performances, attracting more than 12 million audience members. In December 2014, Elisabeth came to China for the first time as the Shanghai Culture Square Theater's year-end hits. The 40 consecutive performances not only opened the door to German-language musicals for Chinese audiences, but also became an irreplaceable 'first love' of German-language musicals in the hearts of countless theatre fans.

In 2024, Elizabeth returned to the stage at Shanghai Culture Square Theater in the form of staged concert, offering audiences a profound dialogue between music and drama, and receiving widespread acclaim. The stage design was simple yet profound, with exquisite costumes showcasing elegance, and a giant LED screen that evolved with the narrative, creating a grand visual epic. The talented cast gave their all, and the exquisite skills of the specially invited European orchestra infused the music with soul.
From Vienna in 1992 to Shanghai in 2026, Elisabeth's charm remains undiminished and its appeal enduring. With the same high standard of production and uncompromising quality as always, it will once again continue the artistic legend of Shanghai Culture Square Theater.
