The dance and poetry drama "Only This Green" is a poetic drama, with chapters such as "Spreading the Scroll, Asking for Seal Script, Singing Silk, Finding the Stone, Practising Brushwork, Quenching Ink and Painting" as its outline.
The play is structured in a staggered narrative. The plot is set at the time when the "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" is about to be exhibited and when the young painter Xi Meng was about to finish his work a thousand years ago. "It is a fascinating journey into the heart of Ximeng, who spent many precious years working on the painting, and the "genius boy" with whom only a few numbers are recorded.
At the same time, a richly layered landscape will be created on stage: a bright moon shining brightly for a thousand years, the scroll exhibitors facing each other in the moonlight, the dedicated cultural and museum staff of the National Palace Museum and the diligent ancient craftsmen working together to create a humanistic picture of a blend of scenes. If the paintings have survived to this day as a matter of historical chance, then the colours that have survived for a thousand years are the result of the many traditional crafts of the Chinese people. The play is also a biography of those craftsmen who are not remembered by name - a tribute to the "green water and green hills" that the inheritors of 5,000 years of Chinese civilisation have achieved together.
