HONG KONG’S BIGGEST MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR 2019 AS CLOCKENFLAP ANNOUNCES FIRST-ROUND LINEUP, INCLUDING HALSEY, MUMFORD & SONS, LIL PUMP AND MORE!

The countdown to Hong Kong’s biggest annual music and arts festival kicked up a gear today as Clockenflap announced the first wave of artists for its upcoming edition. Among the big-name acts confirmed to appear at the three-day festival, which takes place at Central Harbourfront from Friday, 22 November to Sunday, 24 November 2019, are US electropop sensation HALSEY, British indie giants MUMFORD & SONS and controversial Miami rap star LIL PUMP, with many more names to be announced.

Featuring an eclectic array of established artists, festival favourites and thrilling breakthrough acts from around the world, the supremely diverse first-phase lineup includes 21 Hong Kong live debuts. Tickets for the festival are on sale now, and fans can take advantage of the great-value Early Bird discount prices until 21 August 2019.

London-based indie-folk superstars MUMFORD & SONS will be making their long-awaited Hong Kong debut on the back of their acclaimed fourth album, Delta. The festival will also welcome one of the world’s hottest – and most provocative – hip-hop artists, 18 year-old Florida rapper LIL PUMP, the talent behind 2018 smash hit Gucci Gang. And electropop-lovers can look forward to a pair of acts driving the new generation of female vocalists in the genre, platinum-selling US singer-songwriter HALSEY, who holds the record on the longest running Billboard 100 Top 10 hit by a female this century and Norwegian synth-pop chanteuse AURORA.

ASIA’S NEW ICONS
Continuing Clockenflap’s mission to bring Asia’s most compelling musical talents to Hong Kong, this year’s edition will welcome a variety of top acts from around the region. Demonstrating the strength and diversity of Taiwan’s music scene are a trio of distinctive artists at the forefront of two very different genres: acclaimed singer-songwriters CROWD LU and WAA WEI, as well as rapper LEO 王, the first ever hip-hop artist to win the best male award at the Golden Melody Awards. Fans of Japanese girl groups can look forward to irrepressible kawaii metal duo BABYMETAL and offbeat electronic rock band CHAI. Korea, meanwhile, is well represented by indie rockers SAY SUE ME and rapper COLDE from Seoul-based hip-hop duo OFF ON OFF.

INDIE & ALT-ROCK MAVERICKS
Every festival needs a dose of loud guitars, and Clockenflap has a treat in store for indie and alt-rock fans. English indie-rock heroes THE KOOKS return to Hong Kong for the first time in more than a decade. Sure to be among the weekend’s highlights, meanwhile, are Melbourne psychedelic rockers KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD and visceral Bristol post-punks IDLES, playing an exclusive Asian set, only at Clockenflap.

RED-HOT BREAKTHROUGH STARS
With a finger firmly on the pulse of the global zeitgeist, Clockenflap is once again the best place to see today’s hottest music and tomorrow’s biggest stars, from Grammy award-winning British future bass producer MURA MASA, London-based electronic duo HONNE and globe-spanning indie-pop collective SUPERORGANISM to rising North American bedroom pop stars CUCO and GUS DAPPERTON, and Norwegian indie-rockers BOY PABLO.

Spanning a wide range of styles and genres, the festival’s exceptionally eclectic lineup also includes bass-loving DJ/producer WHAT SO NOT, Californian post-metal band DEAFHEAVEN, Australian electronic R&B act COSMO’S MIDNIGHT, Fleetwood Mac-channelling DJ duo FLEETMAC WOOD, Philippine indie-folksters BEN&BEN, Arkansas indie-pop pair JOAN and Hong Kong singer-songwriter OLIVIER CONG.

FAQs

Should I bring my passport or ID along with me?

You’ll need to present your passport or ID at the door. Remember, in all cases, it’s very important that the name on your ticket matches precisely what is written on your ID i.e. Don’t use nicknames or common names if that’s not what’s in black and white on your ID. It will only lead to problems on the door and you won’t be able to get in.

Why do I have to put a name (as it appears on the Passport/ID) on every ticket I buy?

Basically, we need to do everything we can to stop ticket touts and any kind of ticket-related fraud. By making sure you are who you say you are, we can eliminate the black market as much as possible, which is good news for everyone. We all have Passports or ID Cards, so the solution is simple. Lucky us.

What does it mean when I’m asked to enter my name “as it appears on Passport/ID”?

This refers to the importance of having the name that’s on your ticket match exactly how it is written on your proof of ID. For example, if your name is John Chan and all your friends call you John Chan - but – your ID card states you as Chan Yiu Ming. Then be sure to type “Chan Yiu Ming” on your ticket and NOT John Chan.

Do we all need to enter the venue together at the same time if I buy tickets for some friends?

Thankfully no. Each ticket has an individual name associated to it, so simply ensure that you have the correct name on each ticket and each person is in possession of their ticket.
