Maritime Silk Road Ensemble
Founded in 2021, Maritime Silk Road Ensemble presents the high level of chamber music in China. They are Shuang Zhu (clarinetist), Yen-Fang Chen (violist), Xue Dong (cellist), and Chi-Kit Lam (pianist) with musical degrees from the United States, Canada and Belgium.
With passion for collaborative art, members of the MSR Ensemble have made their mark on the international stages, including the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest, the Vianden Music Festival, and Piano Odyssey Festival in Indonesia, etc. The ensemble gave performance at Carnegie Hall in New York, and chamber concerts at the Third China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) at Hainan in 2023.
As one of the most influential professional Chinese chamber groups, the MSR Ensemble performs masterpieces from the standard repertoire as well as new music. Recently, they premiered compositions such as “Tales from the Nine Bells” written by Dr. Zhou Long (Chinese-American composers who was Pulitzer Prize-winning composer), “Tibetan Tunes” and “Night Thoughts” composed by Dr. Chen Yi (Chinese-American composers who has been inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences).
Their performance is deeply loved and appreciated by the audience. These music not only present the ensemble’s unique insights into music, but also try to convey the charm of Chinese culture through music.
