China Film Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 1949, the China Film Symphony Orchestra (also known as the China Radio and Film Symphony Orchestra) is the earliest national symphony orchestra established in the PRC. During its 71-year-long, glorious history, a large number of renowned musicians such as FENG Guangtao, YAO Guanrong, WANG Liping, LYU Qiming, JIN Zhengping, BIAN Zushan and CHEN Zuohuang have emerged, as well as many well-known works.
As an orchestra that has stayed active in China's music scene with wide-reaching influence, the China Film Symphony Orchestra has presented symphony concerts, famous operas and ballets with world-class conductors, composers, performers and dancers from the U.S., Germany, France, Japan, the Philippines, Russia, Italy and other countries.
In recent years, the Orchestra has blazed a trail to popularize symphonic music and to get close to music lovers. Young musicians of the Orchestra have come to the fore, and the repertoire of the Orchestra covers film music, pop music, Latin music, country music, jazz and classic folk songs. The Orchestra has performed all over the world.
As the only national professional orchestra with a festival orchestra style in the country, the China Film Symphony Orchestra pioneered the fusion of different music styles such as pop music, Latin music, folk music, Chinese operas and symphonic music. The Orchestra’s diverse performing styles, excellent coordination and virtuosity have received high praise from the Chinese and foreign music circles and audiences.
