In the early 20th century, New Yorkers built theatres along Broadway, and the variety of theatrical productions soon became the main attraction of this fast-forming metropolis. Today, "Broadway" shows are no longer synonymous with a few blocks of New York, nor is the West End a small square on the map of London; they are no longer confined to Broadway Street, but travel the world.
The Phantom of the Opera is an unsurpassed classic in the memory
The first of the "Big Four" musicals, based on the novel of the same name by French writer Gaston Leroux and composed by Weber, The Phantom of the Opera premiered at the Broadway Theatre on 26 January 1988. It is characterised by its dazzling set installations, its almost dialogue-free style of writing, and its chorus and orchestra of 30 to 40 people, creating an aurally and visually powerful opera-musical atmosphere.
The original musical has a great deal of classical music, which absolutely guarantees a powerful expression of emotional colour in the film and is the main soul of the film. In this film, soothing, urgent, manic and passionate music alternates constantly, and several melodies such as the phantom of the opera (The Phantom of the Opera) are used throughout, with the same melody subtly expressing different feelings and setting the emotional tone of the piece.
The singing is full of pain and fantasy, expressing the sad, painful ambivalence of the main character, Christine. She wants to escape the Phantom's control and entanglement, but feels helpless and afraid in the face of the Phantom's perverse ferocity.
When she was lonely and confused, she went to her father's tombstone and sang the song "I Wish You Were Here Again" slowly and deeply, telling the story of her grief and pain in the music, imagining that her late father would return to her and give her guidance and strength.
I Dreamd A Dream - LES MISÉRABLES
One of the "Big Four" musicals, adapted from Victor Hugo's novel of the same name, the French version premiered in Paris in 1980, followed by the English version at London's Carved House Theatre five years later, before hitting Broadway in 1987. Its most distinctive feature is the purely musical form of the musical, which brings out the humanitarian spirit through the cross development of multiple themes.
The rigorous structure of the score, which presents big times and small characters, is complemented by elegant lyrics that illustrate the moral that "it is the spirit that makes humanitarianism come alive".
Can You Feel The Love Tonight – THE LION KING
The Lion King, produced by Disney, is known as the king of Broadway musicals and is one of the most popular musicals in the world, having grossed more money than any other film or stage production in history.
Feel My Love Tonight is the most beautiful, romantic and poetic love song from The Lion King, winning the Academy Award for Best Song from a Motion Picture. The Lion King is the original movie song album of The Lion King, which premiered in 1997 and is known as the "King of Musicals".
In the musical, the actors are transformed into animal characters in the savannah and the stage becomes a vast African savannah. The audience is then immersed in a gripping adventure of a young lion who must find the courage to overcome his own hardships and misfortunes to rise to the throne of the Lion King.
In today's life, sometimes we lack the courage and confidence to rise above the odds, and hopefully everyone will be able to rise above the lows and rise to the top like the Lion King.
