Tonight, the whispers of trumpet and voice will awaken the most enchanting verses in the history of jazz. Spanish trumpeter and vocal artist Antonio Ximenez Lopez collaborates with guitarist Scoot Denison and bassist Brian Hurley to recreate Chet Baker's timeless classics in a trio format.
The legendary American jazz musician Chet Baker redefined the aesthetic dimensions of Cool Jazz with his "fragile trumpet tones" and "breathy vocal style." He was a symbol of the West Coast jazz movement in the 1950s, co-defining a minimalist language of "saying more with silence" alongside Miles Davis and Gerry Mulligan. From the delicate tenderness of "My Funny Valentine" to the cool rhythmic tones of "Funk in Deep Freeze," from the poetic drifting of "Autumn Leaves" to the improvisational brilliance of "Solar," this selection features key tracks from Baker's career, covering his representative works from the Pacific Jazz era to his later European recordings.
