An Tianxu is an outstanding young pianist highly sought after both in China and internationally, currently teaching at the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. In June 2019, An Tianxu secured fourth place and the sole Special Prize for ‘Courage and Control’ at the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition, marking the finest achievement by a Chinese pianist at this premier piano event in 24 years. Jury Chairman Denis Matsuev praised his performance as ‘utterly sensational’ and possessing ‘maturity beyond his years’. As a soloist, An Tianxu has collaborated with premier orchestras worldwide, including the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Rachmaninoff International Symphony Orchestra, the China National Symphony Orchestra, the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. In April 2022, his debut album Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev was released worldwide by the French classical label Alpha. On 17 August 2023, his second album An Tianxu: Solo Recital at the National Centre for the Performing Arts was released globally by NCPA Classics under the NCPA Music label, as part of the ‘Young Chinese Musicians Debut Series’.
