ALTER. LIVE

We are proud to announce Alter.’s most dynamic project to date - ALTER. LIVE on March 27th.

An immersive audiovisual live performance from Modern Sky artists Frankfurt Helmet, together with visual artist 膨胀螺丝, new media artist Zhi Ang Wang and contemporary dancer Pianpian, ALTER. LIVE comprises sights to make you think and music to make you feel as our A/V artists attempt to blur the lines between reality and performance.

Not only will we showcase A/V performances but also a DJ lineup of Laughing Ears and Finascia from ambient, dub, acid, Italo, and techno.

A musical experience that we hope will engage our audience in an entirely unique fashion.

【Frankfurt Helmet & 膨胀螺丝(Audiovisual Live)】

Set time: 11 pm-12 am 

Frankfurt Helmet is an electronic duo from Wuhan comprised of Hu Juan, former drummer of "SMZB/AV Okubo” and guitarist Dafei. From rock and punk origins they now direct their talents towards the creation of synthesizer music

With deep roots in independent electronic music, they have begun to use modular synthesizers to combine their unique style with the cold mechanical rhythm of the instrument; evolving into a completely different art form. The pairing has also cooperated with visual artists to make vision an extension of musical experience with accompanying imaginary for the audience to be fully immersed in the spectacle.

【 About 膨胀螺丝】

Employing image, sound, and installation as main media of creativity, Huang Wei a.k.a. Booming Rose produces hybrid, intense plunder-collages of audio-visual elements that are shot, field recorded, 3d scanned, appropriated, sampled, CG produced, and/or parametrically generated, whereby he examines heterogeneous symptoms of 'Digital Capitalism Syndrome,' such as information explosion, spectacle cult, amuse-ourselves-to-death, consumerism, algorithmic gevernmentality, digitocracy and so on.

【New Media Artist】

Frankfurt Helmet will also perform two tracks in cooperation with new media artist Wang Zhiang. Graduated from the China Academy of Art, Zhi Ang Wang often uses image programming and synaesthetic methods to combine space and medium to create a sensory experience; from digital technology to machinery, attempts to explore the boundaries of visual presentation with the use of visual persistence and visual illusion.

【Comtemporary Dancer】

Pianpian Li is a dance theatre maker, choreographer, and dancer. After graduated from the Northern school of contemporary dance, Leeds, United Kingdom, she moved to Shanghai to start her career as a performer. Heavily inspired by personal experiences, her pieces often contain dance, spoken word, vocal experiments, and illustrations.

【 Laughing Ears 】

A unique presence in China’s burgeoning electronic underground with impressive releases. Her music crosses genres which include Experimental, Ambient, Beats, Bass, Footwork, and Noise. She has been favored by many indie labels in and out of China and has also been invited by NTS radio（London） and SHCR（Shanghai） to play music for their program.

After her debut 12" Vinyl album “Tidal Effects” on Ran Music and EP “Shame” on Functionlab, Last year two releases with international labels Decisions (out of Melbourne) and Chinabot (London) showcasing the shape-shifting artist’s range and command of the atmosphere.

【 Finascia 】

Finascia's beloved Chicago and Detroit house music have always given him new inspiration - constantly digging and exploring since a young age. He likes to take risks and try different mixing styles.
