Mercedes-Benz JAZZ MASTER SERIES
Hailed by Down Beat magazine for his “quick-witted harmonic reflexes, fluid command of line and cut-to-the-chase sense of narrative logic,” Aaron Goldberg has made his name worldwide as one of jazz’s most compelling pianists, both as a bandleader and frequent collaborator with the finest exponents of the music. As a bandleader Aaron’s passion for swing, melody and groove has long been paired with a keen appreciation of other musical cultures, as documented on his 5 acclaimed trio albums and over 80 more as a co-leader and collaborator.

Originally from New Zealand, Matt Penman moved to the U.S in 1994 to attend Berklee College of Music, and in 1995 to New York, where he maintains an international performing, recording and teaching schedule as one of jazz music’s most in-demand bassists.
He is an 11-year, established member of the SFJazz Collective, an 8-piece composer’s collective devoted to presenting the original works of its members as well as arrangements of the jazz greats' oeuvre. The Collective is an All Star ensemble featuring some of the finest composer/improvisers on the scene, including David Sanchez, Warren Wolf and Miguel Zenon.

New-York born musician Leon Parker is one of the most intriguing musicians of his generation. Drummer, percussionist and body-rhythm pioneer, he constantly explores new sound possibilities, using an infinitive range of colors with an often-limited drumset (consisting sometimes in a unique cymbal). His distinctive groove, he draws from very natural roots, has built him a solid reputation on the jazz scene and beyond.
Leon Parker started drums when he was three, becoming a confirmed jazz musician in early adolescence. After having studied classical percussions, he took lessons with Barry Harris and started performing regularly in New York. Remarked for his unique musical print, he recorded first with Harvie Swartz and played with musicians such as Sheila Jordan and Kenny Barron.
