A Bu, a Chinese young pianist, jazz musician and composer, was born in Beijing in 1999. He was mentored by American born Chinese piano educator Zhang Shigu since four years old and later by China’s renowned pianist Ms. Bao Huiqiao and piano educator Mr. Zhou Mingsun.
Being a 19-year-old pianist, A Bu has held multiple personal concerts in China, the United States, and European countries and attended many international music festivals. He has performed in National Center for the Performing Arts, Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory Hall, Paris Olympia Hall, Paris Louis Vuitton Fund and other world-famous halls. Until today, A Bu was twice invited by UNESCO & and Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz to share the stage with Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Igor Butman and other jazz stars at the International Jazz Day All-Star Global Concert.
Young as he is, A Bu has exhibited maturity and talent that far exceeds others at his generation and considered a potential star in China’s contemporary young solo pianist. Having studied in music academies and indulged in classical music for years, A Bu was familiar with all kinds of instruments and music types and became a student of China’s most famous jazz pianist and music academy professor Kong Hongwei to study jazz, Latin music, harmony and impromptu performance.
On 13 August 2018, A Bu will be on the stage of Beijing Poly Theater and play his favorite song composed by Russian composer Kapustin as well as his original composition Young Piano Lion.
Poly Theater has always dedicated to discovering talented musicians and providing high-quality exhibition platforms and opportunities. This time, it holds hands with the top music brand at home Stallion Era to design and plan for A Bu’s piano solo concert, which again proves both Stallion Era and Poly Theater’s pursuit of great music and most sincere and deepest support for China’s outstanding and potential musicians.
