Opus III, The Industrial Ruins is the final chapter of Théâtre de la Massue's The World's Edge's Little Theatre trilogy. The work looks back at the chaotic paths taken in pursuit of utopias, remembering the people who lived and struggled according to their hopes while questioning civilization and its future.

The performance creates a world of modern ruins, inhabited by the remnants and traces of an industrial civilization built around coal, steel and oil. Puppets, mechanical devices, miniature landscapes and moving images come together to create a poetic visual environment between reality and fantasy.

The stage is constructed from modular tabletop elements, creating an immersive 360-degree space for the audience to explore. After the performance, audiences can also take a closer look at this miniature world of industrial ruins.

Founded in 1985 and based in Nice, Théâtre de la Massue is a contemporary puppetry company directed by Ezequiel Garcia-Romeu. The company explores contemporary forms of puppetry alongside modern theatre writing, using small-scale performances to examine questions surrounding the world today.
Its work has been presented in France and internationally, including at the Festival d'Avignon, Berliner Festspiele and the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival. In 2025, the company also created FORMA, an international festival dedicated to puppetry and rare objects.
