ZHU Changyao is a Chinese erhu performer, composer, national A-list actor, Chairman of the Jiangsu Performing Arts Group, director of the Chinese Musicians' Association, executive director of China Nationalities Orchestra Society, Vice President of the China, Erhu Association, Vice President of the Jiangsu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, President of the Jiangsu Musicians Association, deputy to the National People’s Congress, and part-time professor at the Nanjing University, Southeast University, China Conservatory of Music and Nanjing University of the Arts.

 

 

ZHU Changyao graduated from the Department of Music, Nanjing University of the Arts in 1976. He used to study with GAN Tao, QU Anhua, MA Youde and CHEN Yaoxing. He won the Excellent Performance Award in the “National Traditional Musical Instrument Solo Competition (the First Prize for Erhu Performance) in 1982, received a special government allowance from the State Council in 1991 and carried off the “Zijin Culture Medal” by Jiangsu Province in 2015.
