Zhangjiajie is a place not to be missed on your tour of China. Located on the north-western border of Hunan Province, this National Forest Park is famous for its unusual, but breathtakingly beautiful scenery, which includes more than three thousand unique rock ridges and sandstone quart peaks and eight hundred ghylls.

Marvel at this UNESCO World Heritage Site’s precarious peaks, clear-water streams, waterfalls, large karst caves, and dense forests, which are teeming with wildlife such as monkeys.

D1: Arrival in Zhangjiajie, free time to explore the city

 

D2: Explore Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.Take the Bailong Elevator to Yuanjiajie Mountain summit, see one of the tallest peaks: the famous Avatar Hallelujah Mountain, visit Tianzi Mountain, hike down or opt. to take the Mt. Tianzi Cable car. Optional evening activity: Xiangxi Cultural Show

 

D3: Trek through the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, a hikers paradise, walk along the world’s highest and tallest GlassBridge. Slide down the mountain on a marble slide. If you have the energy, opt.to visit Yellow Dragon Cave

D4: Take the world’s longest cable car to Tianmen Mountain. At the mountaintop, walk along the Ghost Path, see the 99-Turn Road and the 999-Steps that lead to the gate of Tianmen. Opt. to walk along another glass skywalk, or take a chairlift to see the beautiful Tianmen temple. Visit a Sandstone painting art gallery on our journey back in evening

 

 

 

The local guide will meet and greet you at the airport or train station. 15 minutes transfer to hotel in Zhangjiajie city. Free time for you to explore the small city.

D2: Bailong Elevator, Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain

After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, we will travel to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park(coverage: 4810 hectares; the highest altitude: 1262.5 meters), via bus. Explore the beautiful scenery, while making our way to Bailong Elevator, made entirely of see-through glass. Take a ride in this famous elevator, up to Yuanjiajie Mountain, and have a bird’s eye view of the breath-taking landscape. Once at Yuanjiajie’s summit, enjoy a 2.5-hour hike to the Pillar of Southern Sky. One of the tallest of the 3000 pillars in the park, this pillar was officially renamed as the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain, in honour of the film Avatar, which was inspired by these peculiar floating peaks. From there, we will proceed to the Platform of Forgetfulness to admire nearby peak-views before walking across the First Bridge Under Heaven. Lunch at the local restaurant will be available at your own expense. Next, we will take the park shuttle bus to visit Tianzi Mountain, known as ‘the Monarch of the Peak Forest’. Pine trees, the Yu Bi (imperial brushes) Peaks, Xihai Stone Forest, and other incredible views and scenery await. We will then make our way back down. Opt to take the Mt. Tianzi Cable Way or hike down. Transfer back to the hotel, where you will have free time in the evening.

Optional evening activity is to see a Xiangxi Show, which highlights the culture of the Hunan people through dance and singing performances (available on day 3 also).

D3: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon – Glass bridge – Yellow Dragon Cave

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. We will then travel via bus (40min drive) to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Hike through the Canyon and enjoy the beautiful, tranquil sceneries of breath-taking cliffs, lush forests, caves, colourful streams and rivers that surround you. On the way down, you can choose to slide down a 600-meter-long marble slide at no extra cost. You will be provided with a thick canvas and gloves to protect your hands, and be able to have fun and give your legs a rest! For those who dare, opt to walk along the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. This bridge is not only the highest but also the longest glass bridge in the world. It is not for the faint-hearted. Afterwards, if you still have the energy, opt to visit Yellow Dragon Cave for its peculiar limestone formations, underground streams, and large caverns.

D4 Tianmen Mountain, Sandstone Painting Institute, Airport/Train station

After breakfast, get ready to take the world's longest cable car to the top of Tianmen Mountain(the highest altitude: 1518.6meters), 7.5km long. Once we arrive at the mountaintop, wander along the Ghost Path, 1400m above land. Along the way, you can also appreciate tourist attractions like Celestial Mountain Top, Glass Path etc. You can also marvel at such sights as the 99-Turn Road and the 999-Steps that lead to the gate of Tianmen from up high on a glass skywalk (only 5 yuan for covers to go over your shoes). Opt. to take a chairlift to see the Tianmen temple, or choose to walk along a footpath. We will then take the escalator to reach Tianmen Gate. After descending Tianmen Mountain, we will take a shuttle bus ride along the Heaven-Linking Avenue. On our way back to Zhangjiajie city, we will stop at a sandstone painting art gallery, where you can learn and appreciate this new kind of painting style.

 

You can stroll in the city at your choice and afterwards free transportation to the airport according to your flight schedule.
