Check out the fascinating landforms of Wave Valley, one of China’s natural wonders, check out the amazing views of the famous Yellow River, take a sheepskin raft across the Yellow River, watch the roaring Hukou Waterfall, immerse ourselves in Chinese history at a revolutionary site, stay in traditional Cave Hotel, learn about the local culture by participating in a North Shaanxi yangko dance with the local people, and more!

The story behind this trip:

The Yellow River is the birthplace of the Chinese civilization and Yan’an is the cradle of the Chinese revolution. By 1950, after the Chinese civil war, the town became one of China's Meccas, and was the headquarters of Chairman Mao and the Red Army, the force of the Communist Party of China. Now, thousands of people journey to Yan’an to pay homage to the greats of the revolution and to experience the beauty of China’s greatest river.

Dates: June 15 - 18 (Friday to Monday over the Dragonboat Holiday)

 

Day 1 - Friday, June 15

06:45 – Catch our flight to Yan’an (Shaanxi)

11:30 – Airport pickup and head over to Qiankun Bay (3 hours drive)

12:30 – Local specialty lunch on the way

15:00 – Arrive at Qiankun Bay, check out the amazing views of the Yellow River and surrounding mountains

18:00 – Local specialty dinner

19:00 – Check into our hotel

Day 2 – Saturday, June 16

07:00 – Breakfast

08:00 – Continue our adventure to another part of Qiankun Bay, and sheepskin raft across the famous Yellow River, the heart of ancient Chinese civilization

10:00 – Head over to Wave Valley (3.5 hours drive)

13:30 – Local specialty lunch

14:30 – Check out the magnificent landscapes of Wave Valley

17:30 – Local specialty dinner

18:30 – Hop on the bus to Yan’an (3.5 hours drive)

22:00 – Check into our cave hotel

Day 3 – Sunday, June 17

08:00 – Breakfast

09:00 – Hop on the bus to Yichuan

11:00 – Check out the amazing Hukou Waterfall, the largest waterfall on the Yellow River

12:00 – Head back and enjoy a local specialty lunch

15:00 – Visit revolutionary site Wangjiaping, the historical headquarters for the Red Army

16:00 – Participate in awesome Shaanxi drum and dance performances

18:00 – Local specialty dinner

19:00 – Head back to our hotel

Day 4 – Monday, June 18

08:00 – Breakfast

09:00 – Hop on the bus to the airport

10:00 – Arrive at the airport and grab some food for lunch
