Xue Lishan

Xue Lishan is a rare pianist in China today who can play the 18th century piano, harpsichord, harpsichord, and pipe organ.
In addition, she is the recipient of three doctorates and a double "Artist Diploma" (the highest international performance diploma).
Xue Lishan studied at the High School Attached to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music since childhood.
After graduating from Shanghai Conservatory of Music with the first place in the undergraduate professional examination,
he studied in Vienna, Austria in 2009.
After graduating from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2011, he went to study in the United States with a full scholarship.
She received the Oberlin Conservatory of Music Artist Diploma (PhD in Performance),
Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Artist Diploma (Piano Ph.D.),
Performer Diploma, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois.
He is currently a Distinguished Visiting Professor at NYU Shanghai.

 

Xue Lishan performed at the Shanghai Concert Hall at the age of 6, and performed at the Beijing Concert Hall with Wang Yujia at the 
"Beijing International Piano Competition Young Pianist Concert" at the age of 12. So far, Xue Lishan’s solo and chamber music concerts
have been performed on four continents, including Carnegie Hall, Washington Kennedy Center, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts,
Benenoa Music Hall in Seattle, and Taylor University in the United States. Theater, Varna Concert Hall in the United States,
Chautau Fleischer Concert Hall in the United States, Simon Bolivar Concert Hall in Venezuela, Mercanti Cathedral in Italy,
Prayner Conservatory Hall in Vienna, Haydn Conservatory in Austria, and Brussels Conservatory in Belgium , Beijing Concert Hall, etc.

 

Xue Lishan's performance draws on the essence of many piano performance schools in the world. 
Belgian music critics columnist Philip Divoff, Pasar Gufoss, American pianist, educator, music critic,
and executive secretary of the American Liszt Musicians Association, Mr. Justin Cobb praised Xue Lishan "born on the stage"
A natural born pianist, with an eye-catching performance and incredible control over different timbres."
The founder of Venezuelan music industry and music education, Mr. Abrio, a member of Congress and an economist
(teacher of the conductor Dudamel), after listening to Bartok performed by Xue Lishan and the Venezuelan Teresa Canio Youth Symphony Orchestra
went to congratulate and praise Xue Lishan as "a great pianist".

 

Xue Lishan is the only music performance winner of the 2018 Carter Neil Jinli International Art Memorial Fund Award. 
In addition, since childhood, she has won numerous awards in international and domestic piano competitions.
For example, the champion of the piano group of the "On Stage" Classical Music International Competition,
the champion of the 20th American 21st Century Piano Commission Competition, the champion of the 2018 American Krannert Artist Competition,
the winner of the "American Grand Prize - Rowling Holland Piano Award", First place in the piano group of the New York International Artists Competition.
2016 Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, the first prize in the youth group and the "Hungarian Rhapsody Best Performance Award",
the first prize in the American Matinee Musicale Piano Award.

Winner of the 40th Young Artists Competition in the United States, winner of the Ross Piano Fund at the University of Illinois,
the Dean of Oberlin School of Music Outstanding Talent Youth Award, and the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University,
the United States Outstanding Art Award, President's Award, and Merit Award. China Gulangyu Music Festival and
National Piano (Professional) Competition Youth Group "Best Performance Award of Commissioned Works" and winners of Bronze Award, etc.

 

Xue Lishan studied under the famous musician Professor Menahem Pressler, the world famous pianist Professor Arnaldo Cohen, 
the successor of the famous pianist Margaret Long, Famous French pianist Professor Monique Duphil, music education master,
Bach expert Professor William Heiles, famous Austrian pianist, head of the Haydn School of Music Piano Department Ralph Heile ( Prof. Ralf Heiber), etc.
Professor Wu Leyi, a famous music master, the successor of the Russian "Negoz School", the famous pianist and educator Professor Li Minduo,
the famous pianist and educator Mao Xiangyu, the famous Chinese music educators Professor Yao Shizhen, Professor Wu Zijie, Professor Fang Baili, etc.

 

Xue Lishan has been invited many times as a guest and judge at music festivals around the world. 
He has been interviewed by domestic and foreign newspapers, magazines and TV stations many times.
In 2008, during his university studies, as the first Chinese pianist who won the prize in the youth group of the
12th Southern Missouri International Piano Competition, but was studying in China, he was interviewed by "Qin Boy" magazine.
Since 2015, he has held several master classes and a series of concerts in Qingdao, China,
and has been interviewed by Qingdao Evening News and Qingdao TV Station.
In March 2018, he was invited by the National Federation of Music Club of the United States to be the
judge of the Sioux City Piano Music Festival in Iowa, USA.
Hosts master classes and concerts, which are hereby reported by local TV stations.
Since 2020, he has been interviewed by Shanghai TV Station and Shanghai People's Broadcasting Station for many times.
In the past three years, Xue Lishan has been invited as a performing artist and judge,
including the 2019 Chicago "Hungry Ears" Summer Music Festival, the 9th "China-ASEAN"-Modern Music Week in 2020,
the 2021 Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music Concert Series,
2020 The 3rd Shanghai Changning District Yuyuan Road International Piano Festival,
the 4th SAE National Youth Piano Competition, the 4th Liszt International Youth Piano Competition (East China), etc.
In addition, Xue Lishan is the author of Playing Jazz: A Self-Teaching Guide to Improvisation.
