In 1999, China's breakthrough punk rock album <Awake> was finally released and sold 65,000 cassette tapes after only two months. In total it sold more than 300,000 - a staggering amount considering how rampant piracy was back then with cassettes. Soon after the release the band underwent some changes in the lineup.
Gao Jing Xiong went on to experiment with electronic music and Gao Yang the drummer continued to play in other early punk bands - both later to rejoin and give new life back to the original band in 2012.Now, in 2013, Gao Jing Xiong, the founder of the band states that "...although the transformation from a small pioneering punk band to the band you hear now was difficult, it was beneficial in the long run. The band has been able to draw from its early punk roots and combine them to make a rich tapestry of China's modern culture."
