Let's go… Ultimate underground river trek!!!

 

It’s time to hit the heart of China, LITERALLY. This 3 day trip takes you to a SECRET karst cave (a cave with an underground river running through it) which, unlike other more touristic locations, is only known to professional outdoor enthusiasts.  We will be rappelling into the cave complex, discovering mysterious underground waterfalls, trekking through underground rivers, ancient trail hiking, and more!!! This is Ultimate Underground River Trekking!

 

(This trip is different from our original classic Underground River Trek.)

 

What is Ultimate Underground River Trekking?

We will be using ropes and other protection to complete this challenge. Instructors will coordinate to set up a rope system along the way to help us through. The 6-8 hour trek will involve waterfall rappelling, waterfall crossing, and rock climbing.

We will be rappelling into incredible caves…

…trekking through underground rivers…

…setting up camp in a remote forest…

Dates: July 13-15 (Friday to Sunday)

 

Day 1 – Friday - July 13

19:00 – Meet at Hongkou Stadium (Metro Lines 8 and 3) Exit 3, outside (follow the music)

23:30 – Arrive at our hotel and check in

Day 2 – Saturday- July 14

07:00 -  Simple Western breakfast

07:30 -  Head out to begin our ultimate caving adventure

09:00 -  Arrive at the starting point, gear up and hike 10 minutes

09:10 -  Arrive at the “sky window” and rappel down into the cave

10:30 -  Change to wetsuits and begin our awesome waterfall rappelling

12:00 -  Picnic inside the cave!

13:00 -  Continue our cave challenge, climbing over rocks, through crevices, and even discovering underground waterfalls

16:00 - Finish up and hike to our final destination

16:30 -  Hop on the bus back to our hotel

18:00 -  Local specialty dinner

Day 3 – Sunday- July 15

07:00 - Simple Western Breakfast

07:30 - Set off to our hiking starting point

08:30 – Arrive and start our hike along an ancient trail and through bamboo forests [distance: 10 km, summit altitude 1395m]

12:00 – Complete our awesome hike and head to the restaurant  

12:30 – Local specialty lunch

13:30 - Head back to Shanghai

18:00 - Arrive in Shanghai
