The strength of one person is nothing compared to the power of a team. Tough Mudder’s full lineup of team-oriented obstacles guarantees that you’ll cross the finish line with more friends than you started with. Whether it’s through a helping hand or an extra vote of confidence, your fellow Mudders will be there for you every step of the way. Whether you arrive solo or with a team, all you need to come with is the strength to leave your fears in the parking lot and the willingness to push the boundaries your comfort zone.
 
Mudders must scale this nearly-vertical 12' face with a pair of wooden pegs. Choose the wrong hole, and you could be sent sliding back to the bottom, or stuck dangling like a twisted pretzel.

Participants are required to team up in groups of 2 or 3 and carry another participant for a stretch of about 50m. They then swap and carry for another 50m.

Commonly the first obstacle on a Tough Mudder course, Kiss of Mud 2.0 puts you down in the muck right from the start. With less than 18” of clearance between tangled rows of barbed wire and your bum, and a floor of slushy cold mud beneath you, there’s nowhere to move but forward. At least now you can pretend you didn’t smell like this before.

Right in the sweet spot between upper body strength and ability, Funky Monkey 2.0 starts with a pair of your favourite childhood monkey bars, angled upward to meet a trapeze. Which, if you can keep your momentum, will send you swinging into an iron pipe descent. Don't lose your nerve on this one, or you'll drop 6ft to take the swim of shame.

This Tough Mudder staple keeps coming back bigger and badder. At 9’ 6”, that cleat at the bottom might give you a leg up, but it won’t make you Mary Poppins. Whatever your strategy for conquering this wall, don’t forget they come in pairs. And remember, there’s a difference between a helpful boost and an improper touch.

S series of horizontal logs set at differing heights that participants must climb up and over and crawl under.

Even if you can get a grip on the edge of this 10’ slanted wall, you won’t find a foot hold. Angled so its middle sits just out of reach of your swinging legs, you’ll have to find another way to scale this obstacle. Better have a teammate up above, down below, or a pair of wings.

This will be the fastest you’ll ever summit this mighty mountain, but the fall is just as quick. This slick quarter pipe is over 15’ tall, with a recurved top to make it extra hard to get that handhold. You can aim for the top, but there’s no promise you won’t end up at the bottom.

This spread of fine, threaded netting might seem straightforward, but you’ll soon find yourself as tangled like Aunt Edna’s yarn ball, and feeling as heavy as her fruitcake. If you can escape it like the embrace of some distant relative, you’ll have a new appreciation for freedom.

It requires a bit of plotting, but unlike its namesake, this obstacle is all about teamwork. Start with a strong base and scramble, climb, and push your way up a slippery incline with the help of your fellow Mudders. Even with an added strip of Merrell’s stickiest rubber sole rolled across its mid-section, this is one obstacle you can’t go alone.

Is there an Age Limit for participating in Tough Mudder 5K?

Tough Mudder allows those who are 16 or older to run at a Tough Mudder event. Anyone who is not 16 or older at the time of the event date cannot participate, but a 15-year old participant can sign up prior to turning 16, as long as they are 16 on event day.

Where can I store my valuables during the event? Is there a bag drop?

Answer:

Yes, there is a bag drop facility onsite. You can purchase the Bag Drop service during registration for RMB 10. Or you can pay onsite for RMB 15. This service is for participants only. Bib number is required when dropping off or picking up your bag. You can also choose to leave your bag in your car or leave it with your friends or family who will be onsite as spectators.

Event organizer is not responsible for lost and damage of the bags and items in the bags.

Can I skip an obstacle?

Answer:

Tough Mudder is not supposed to be about getting a faster time than your friends, so it’s fine by us if you want to skip an obstacle. The way we see it, you are there to have fun and get a real sense of achievement at the end. If you think a particular obstacle isn’t going to do this for you, just go around it – no shame there. However, if you are skipping an obstacle just to improve your time, then we think you are only cheating yourself. You paid to do the course – why not actually do it?

How do I get around as a spectator?

Answer:

Tough Mudder configures the course for easy access that allows spectators to keep up with their friends and family members. We do this by providing shortcuts to obstacles, so you aren’t walking the entire 5 KM course. As a spectator, you will be able to see a majority of the obstacles that your friends will be struggling to overcome. Make sure to bring a camera.

What can spectators bring?

We allow you to bring folding chairs, pushchairs, video recorders, cameras, and purses/bags. Please bear in mind the nature of a Tough Mudder¨ course as pushchairs may be hard to navigate round the course. We cannot allow outside food, alcohol or any pets into the event. How fit do I have to be to participate?

Tough Mudder events are designed to test all round fitness. However, fitness alone will not get you round the course. You will also need mental endurance to complete the course and overcome the obstacles. You will need to train beforehand so look out for our training tips.

While we build our events to be challenging, safety is our top priority at Tough Mudder, and experts are involved at every step of the process to keep you safe. Over the past five years, more than 2 million people have safely completed a Tough Mudder course, making participating in a Tough Mudder event 11x safer than running a marathon and 20x safer than competing in a triathlon.

If you need any assistance during the event, you’ll find on-site safety personnel, with medical experts including ALS, EMT, paramedics, water rescue technicians and emergency response personnel, to ensure your needs are met.
