"Yimeng, A Ballet in Three Chapters" will be performed at the National Centre for the Performing Arts - Opera House from October 12 to 13.

 

 

In three parts -- "Bridge under fire," "The virgin bride" and "Passions of Yimeng," the ballet portrays courageous women of Yimeng Mountains in present-day Shandong Province who made sacrifices of themselves and their families for the revolution that eventually led to the birth of New China.

 

"We put this through after two years of meticulous preparation," said Feng Ying, head of the ballet. "We want to pay tribute to the Yimeng heroines and champion their spirits of struggle, dedication, and perseverance."
