ACT Shanghai Contemporary Theatre Festival (ACT Shanghai) is an annual international festival for performing arts, held in Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre and other partner venues since 2005. It focuses on presenting new and cutting-edge works of theatre, dance and performances from all over the world. In almost two decades, ACT Shanghai has cultivated a young, curious audience unique to Shanghai and become an important connecting platform for local and international artists with the Chinese audience.

The Smiths are the most common and traditional London couple. They invited another couple, the Martins, over for a visit, joined with other friends. The two families engage in meaningless banter and relating nonsensical poems. Their conversation soon devolved into a series of non-sequiturs with no resemblance to normal conversation. A seminal work in the Theatre of the Absurd,The Bald Soprano is a story about people’s absolute inability to communicate, a topic more relevant today than ever before.
